Spotted interesting data from the Fed's US Family Finances release from earlier this year. Only 21% of Americans have direct ownership of listed stocks, with the median amount a mere $15,000. Of the wealthiest 10 percent, only half have ownership of at least 100k. Only 15% of Americans own mutual funds, with median holdings of 40k. So much for the ownership society.
